Description In Semester 2 The lectures and labs will be shared with 0419505 Electronic Circuits, Devices and Electromagnetics but will only cover electromagnetics;

Electric charge, Coulomb’s law and the electric field intensity EThe electric field in the presence of conductors and dielectricsGauss’ law for finding the fields D and E of simple charge distributions

Electric potential, equipotential surfaces and their relation to ECapacitance and electrostatic energy

Magnetic forces, magnetic flux density B, and methods of finding B

Inductance, magnetic energy and Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction

In addition, there will be aerospace specific laboratory work.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Formulate and solve equations relating to the electric field around a charge distribution, the magnetic field around a current density distribution and magnetic induction
  • Formulate and solve equations relating to the magnetic field around a current density distribution
  • Formulate and solve equations relating to magnetic induction.
