Exclusions
Description This module explains basic electric circuits, including properties and behaviour of resistors, capacitors and inductors, together with the properties of electric and magnetic fields.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of electric circuits and calculate currents, voltages and power in resistors, capacitors and inductors
  • Show a basic understanding electric fields, their production by charges, their effect on other charges and their behaviour in dielectrics
  • Show a basic understanding of magnetic fields, including their generation by electric currents, their effect on static and moving electric charges and their behaviour in magnetic materials.
