Module Title LH Finite Element Analysis for Aerospace
SchoolMetallurgy and Materials
Department Metallurgy & Materials
Module Code 04 39224
Module Lead Prof A Haasz
Level Honours Level
Credits 10
Semester Semester 2
Pre-requisites
Co-requisites
Restrictions None
Exclusions
Description In this module students will study the theoretical bases and use of numerical codes for modelling the behaviour of structures. This will include a situation in which \"aeroelasticity\" is important, ie the combination of fluid flow, inertia, and elastic deformation.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • 20.1
  • Create an effective simulation of a structure
  • 20.2
  • Explain how to design a structural simulation (including the choice of element, mesh, parameters etc.)
  • 20.3
  • Explain the equations and phenomena underlying Finite Element Analysis
  • 20.4
  • Create a simulation of a system involving aeroelasticity, i.e. fluid flow, inertia, and elastic deformation
