The Group Management Project provides students with the opportunity to begin their professional development journey. The module is unlike others on the course as it provides the students with the opportunity to manage themselves as a team to deliver the required outputs of the project. The Group Management Team will be required to deliver a number of activities over the course of the academic year which will develop skills related to project planning, management and delivery as well as mentoring, communication and risk analysis. The Student-led Development Activities cover a range of topics such as site visits, through to training in surveying which require effective engagement with different stakeholders (e.g. students, module leads, external contacts) for successful delivery. The Group Management Team will be assessed based on their delivery of each of the activities in terms of innovation, planning, organisation, communication and output quality. Further, each student will also be required to write a short critically reflective essay on their contributions to the group’s delivery which begins to develop the necessary skills for continued professional development in pursuit of professional chartership.
