Description
This module exists to allow particularly strong students to study, at their own initiative, material that is outside what can be found in other Level M modules that are available in the School of Computer Science. Learning is by self-managed study under the direction of a supervisor (a member of the academic staff of the School). The topic for a particular student is by negotiation between the student and supervisor early in the semester.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module the student should be able to:
Demonstrate detailed understanding of a topic in Computer Science including current research in the area;
Solve problems or engage in critical analysis of problems or issues related to a topic in Computer Science and relevant research literature;
Give a presentation on a topic in Computer Science appropriate to an academic audience;
Write a report on a topic in Computer Science in the appropriate style for an academic audience.
