Exclusions
Description Strong students may choose to study, at their own initiative, material that is outside what can be found in other modules available in the School of Computer Science. This module gives them the opportunity to do so. Learning is by self-managed study under the direction of a supervisor (a member of the academic staff of the School). The topic for a particular student is by negotiation between the student and supervisor early in the semester.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • demonstrate detailed understanding of a topic in Computer Science
  • solve problems or engage in critical analysis of problems or issues related to a topic in Computer Science
  • give a presentation on a topic in Computer Science appropriate to an academic audience
  • write a report on a topic in Computer Science in the appropriate style for an academic audience
  • The student should demonstrate the capacity to independently study, understand, and critically evaluate advanced materials or research articles in the subject areas covered by this module.
