Description The module introduces issues relating to the representation, storage, exchange and manipulation of information. The module will introduce theoretical and practical aspects of computing. Students will be provided with an understanding of core features of computer science and develop a solid understanding of programming and its limitations.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Understand and apply computer science principles relating to the representation, storage, exchange, querying, manipulation and presentation of information;
  • Write simple programs;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of limitations of programming such as complexity issues.
Assessment 30325-01 : Examination : Exam (Centrally Timetabled) - Written Unseen (70%)
30325-02 : coursework : Coursework (30%)

a) 30% Continuous Assessment
b) 70% End of Session Exam (3 hours)

Reassessment:
