Description The module will explore some major themes in HCI, from both a theoretical and a practical perspective. It offers students a practical domain in which to apply knowledge and skills, including those from other modules, to the design, implementation and analysis of interfaces between people and computer systems.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Describe and explain appropriate techniques for determining user requirements from an HCI perspective.
  • Design and evaluate a computer-based system which meets such user requirements.
  • Explain, discuss and apply the underlying principles in HCI, including psychological and technical aspects.
  • Participate in a user-centred design process.
  • Demonstrate appreciation of the research literature in one subfield of HCI.
