Description This module introduces concepts and methods of statistical survey and analysis. Students will develop the ability to de-sign statistical investigations in practical situations, imple-ment strategies to collect data, and perform an analysis of the data.
This module introduces survey methods, such as inter-views, questionnaires, observation, and report methods, as well as basic methods of data collation and data analysis.
This module focuses on flexible statistical applications and feasible research design tailored to practical situations.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Understand basic theories of survey based statistical research and analysis.
  • Design statistical surveys appropriate to a practical application.
  • Perform appropriate analysis of survey data.
  • Evaluate the outcome of statistical analysis of survey data.
Assessment
Assessment Methods & Exceptions Asseement:
Assignments (30%)
Final Exam (70%): a 2 hour examination

Re-assessment (where allowed): a 2-hour resit examination (100%)
