Description

This module provides students with an introduction to microeconomic theory and principles in a business context. It combines basic economic theory with applications, in a teaching programme designed to help students to understand current and topical business and economic issues.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the module students should be able to:

  • explain economic concepts such as costs, revenues, profits, demand, supply and elasticity;
  • demonstrate understanding of microeconomic theory and principles;
  • analyse firms' decision-making processes when facing different competitive scenarios, including perfect competition and monopoly;
  • analyse the business and economic environment in which we live and work, and to appraise the impacts of economic decisions/events;
  • demonstrate understanding of the issues raised by government intervention in the market.
