Description

The dissertation is an in-depth individual research study of a particular issue within the field of Accounting and Finance. It will outline understanding of current theory and literature, describe in detail methodology of data gathering, outline the evidence gathered, analysis and interpretation; and finally explore conclusions, and if relevant to the study, recommendations.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the module students should be able to:

  • design, plan and execute an independent research project;
  • critically assess and make comparisons between theoretical frameworks and substantive knowledge acquired in the programme to a research topic;
  • undertake a systematic analysis of quantitative and/or qualitative information and present the results in a clear and concise manner;
  • analyse and evaluate primary and/or secondary data and assess its implications for theory and practice.
