Description
This dissertation module provides a space for students to evidence their competence as critical and independent researchers and practitioners. The module is an opportunity for students to undertake in-depth research into an appropriate area of their programme discipline with structured support via teaching, tutorials, and project supervision.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module the student should be able to:
Carry out an in-depth analysis of research located to an area of investigation within relevant theories and concepts from the published literature
Develop and articulate core research questions for the dissertation
Devise and carry out a coherent plan for the dissertation research, analysis and completion
Write and present a coherent and analytical review of the literature related to the core research questions of the dissertation
Carry out an original research-based piece of work that explores an area of investigation in a critical and analytical manner
Write and present a coherent account of this research based work, located within appropriate theory
Make research-based recommendations were appropriate based on the conclusions of the dissertation

Assessment: Dissertation Proposal: 10% Dissertation: 90%
The dissertation will comprise of a coherent and analytical 12,000 word dissertation based on either a piece of individual research or an in-depth assessment of other primary research, and academic literature.
