Description This module will cover the key operational and procurement issues in maintaining and enhancing the Global Value Chains. It will include the analysis of the role of Foreign Direct Investment in global sourcing and will provide full analysis of production management in International Operations.
The module will also analyse the political and cultural environments that impact upon the availability of Foreign Direct Investment and the role of technology management and transfer.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module the student will be able to:
  • Examine and critically evaluate why and how organizations engage in international manufacturing and service provision;
  • Critically analyse the issues and problems faced when starting up and managing oversees operations;
  • Provide an advanced understanding and critical analysis of various approaches to designing and managing operations and procurement systems in different regions and countries.
