Description
The aim of this module is to introduce students to the main concepts of accountancy and finance and develop their ability to analyse financial reports. The module explores many aspects of financial accounting and management, including company accounting practices, financial ratios, short-term decision making and investment appraisal. It also covers the role of financial markets in the provision of funds and applies this to investment appraisal and company valuation.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of and critically evaluate the content of published financial reports of limited companies
Apply the correct financial appraisal method to short-term business decisions
Apply the correct financial appraisal method for long-term business investment decisions
Understand and demonstrate a critical appreciation of the role of financial markets in the provision of funds and apply this to investment appraisal and company valuation
