Description

The aim of this module is to examine the theories, principles and practice of corporate communications. It focuses on management and organisational communications, introducing students to theories of business communications, thereby providing a basis for future study. Contemporary models of corporate communications are studied with supporting case studies. The module examines a number of different channels of communication in current day business. Students will participate in group exercises as a part of the learning experience.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the module students should be able to:

  • demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the role corporate communication plays in business activities and define both Organisational and Management Communications;
  • explain the different classifications of organisational and management communications and the roles they play;
  • analyse and assess the effectiveness and appropriateness of different styles of communication within an organisation and between an organisation and key stakeholders;
  • apply theories of corporate communications;
  • evaluate, compare and contrast selected individual components of corporate communications via case studies and assessed group work.
