Following a module introduction to support student placement applications, students will self source a communications or marketing related placement for a minimum of 100 hours. Stage one of the module is the placement, or internship, during which students must keep a reflective diary and gather examples of work they produce for their communications portfolio. The module requires evidence of hours worked and a workplace appraisal.
Stage two of the module commences with a series of lectures to further equip students with knowledge and skills to reflect on the practice of stakeholder communications experienced during individual placements and the processes utilised in planning, developing and creating communication products. The opportunity for reflection is three-fold: on communications experienced in the workplace, on the application and appropriateness of theoretical models, and on the student's own development of skills. The module includes opportunity for group work and shared dissemination of communications experience from a wide range of sectors.
