Description This module will focus on the development of professional skills within the working environment context.

The skills will concentrate on developing Group working, Making an Impact, Public Speaking and Presentation skills.

The module will mix class based teaching with practical activities /workshops and will be supplement by on the job opportunities to develop these skills by liaising directly with clients.

This module takes place at KPMG Birmingham and is supplemented by work based learning opportunities.
Learning Outcomes

By the end of the module students should be able to:

  • present verbally with impact to a high standard;
  • adapt and modify their style of delivery to specific audiences;
  • work successfully as part of a team delivering specific outputs and reflect on their individual contributions to group activities;
  • convey information in both written and verbal form in a succinct and businesslike manner, ensuring that clear messaging with impact is paramount.

Assessment Methods & Exceptions The assessment score will be driven by a marking scheme which considers the following aspects: Assessment of the ability to work as part of a Group: Each student will be assessed for their personal contribution, as part of a small team, to the planning and preparation of a Group Presentation (50%) Assessment of individual presentation: Each student will present during the course. This will test their ability to present information clearly, succinctly and with impact (50%) Reassessment: Review of the KPMG data from the course which forms the basis of the marking scheme calculated by the University.
