This limit has been suggested by IBM based on their experience delivering similar modules at other Universities. It ensures that there is good interaction between students and module tutors. If necessary students will be selected based on interviews and/or application letters for the module.

Exclusions
Description This module develops students’ familiarity with practical aspects of business analytics, such as types of data, sources, extraction, cleaning and manipulation. It provides exposure to real-world business analytics applications and challenges.

The module will introduce core concepts including but not limited to business intelligence, analytic techniques, visualisation, big data and cognitive computing.

The module will be delivered in cooperation with specialists from IBM who will lead the lecture sessions.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Critically evaluate the potential of analytic techniques in addressing business issues;
  • Identify and deploy a range of analytical techniques and apply them to business cases;
  • Understand and evaluate the role of big data in business.
