Description
This module is an opportunity to examine different academic and practice approaches to the topic. Students will explore the research that underpins academic theories that claim to explain and predict organizational behaviour, and be encouraged come to their own well-informed conclusions about the contribution, positive and negative, that people make to organizations. The topic will be approached in two key ways:
1) By engaging with relevant ideas and theories in the area through reading and thinking about published academic research;
2) By carefully examining how organizational behaviour happens in and outside the workplace.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Identify and systematically explain the origins and purpose of organisational behaviour as a field of research and practice;
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the key organisational behaviour theories, models and frameworks such as organisational culture, motivational theory and group behaviour;
Critically evaluate how organisational behaviour drives performance and competitiveness;
Demonstrate a critical awareness of the importance of research in developing the future direction of the field of organisational behaviour;
Critically evaluate the effectiveness of organisational policies and procedures in a variety of organisations;
Demonstrate skills in verbal and written communication, team working, and critical analysis.
