Description The purpose of this module is to build on the knowledge students gain from the foundation (compulsory) ‘Strategy’ module by refining the analytical techniques, introducing some advanced topics and considering how strategy is managed in practice. There is a focus throughout on strategic decision making.

The module is concerned with the formulation and evaluation of long-run strategies by business organisations in the context of their particular competitive environments and an ever-changing, uncertain general environment for business. It involves the application of appropriate analytical techniques to case studies.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • To develop further students’ understanding of the analysis necessary to develop effective strategies for organisations.
  • To encourage students to utilise their knowledge of the competitive and general business environments and the range of human and organisation problems often involved in strategic decision making.
  • To increase students’ knowledge by examining a range of specialist areas in detail.
