Description
Research plays a crucial role in social policy. This module outlines both quantitative and qualitative research methods and employs real-world scenarios to impart skills students can apply both during the module and in their professional lives. Students will also gain detailed understanding of research ethics, tools and techniques, and will receive support in planning their dissertations.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Explain the role and process of research in contemporary public policy development, implementation and evaluation
Demonstrate enhanced knowledge and understanding about the principles and values of social research
Apply a range of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies rigorously
Complete individual research plans for dissertations
