Description The aim of this module is to provide a solid practical, conceptual and analytical understanding of advanced topics in entrepreneurship, with a particular emphasis on the business growth phase. Although no prior understanding is assumed, the module integrates with the Entrepreneurship Business Start- Up module. The module may include areas such as:
  • Risk and uncertainty in the business growth environment: theory and practice
  • Characteristics and capabilities of growth businesses
  • Strategic evaluation of growth opportunities
  • Debt and equity finance for business growth
  • Growth via partnerships, joint ventures and acquisitions
  • The role of small business growth on economic wellbeing and job creation
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the business environment and its effect on growth opportunities;
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the business environment and its effect on growth opportunities
  • Understand and evaluate the different theoretical approaches and models that underlie business growth and outcomes and be able to critically evaluate such theories
  • Demonstrate a critical awareness of the importance of strategic evaluation of growth opportunities, financing, partnerships, joint ventures and acquisitions
  • Demonstrate a critical awareness of the importance of small business growth on economic wellbeing and job creation
  • Demonstrate skills in verbal and written communication, team working, and critical analysis

29516-04 : Exam 1 hour : Exam (School Arranged) - Written Unseen (50%)
Assessment Methods & Exceptions Main & reassessment: 1 hr exam (50%) and 1,000 word individual assignment (50%).
