Description This module equips students with a solid understanding of key concepts in business economics and the macroeconomic environment. It focuses on how economic principles influence business strategy, market dynamics, and policy decisions.

Students will explore topics such as market competition, regulatory frameworks, and the role of economic policies in shaping business environments. The module also examines broader macroeconomic challenges, including growth, inflation, unemployment, and global trade, providing insights into how these factors impact businesses.

Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of economic analysis and policy issues, applying these to the strategic behavior and operation of firms and the functioning of markets, including case studies.
  • Evaluate how the economic environment and policies impact market and business operations, business strategies, and macroeconomic variables.
  • Develop educated, critical opinions on key economic debates, such as the role of the state, the causes and consequences of financial crises, and the impact of institutions on innovation and competitiveness.
  • AEmploy economic analysis to predict the effects of economic variables and construct well-reasoned analytical arguments.
