Description This module examines different ways in which analysts and investors can determine the value of equity investments and firms. The module begins with an extensive study of financial statements with a view to explain the key aspects of corporate operations and how financial statements are used in valuation. It then focuses on the fundamental and advanced techniques in equity and firm valuation using financial statements. The module also introduces fundamental business strategy analysis and financial forecasting.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Critically evaluate the strategies of a firm and identify its key value drivers and risks;
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of analysis and evaluation of financial statements;
  • Apply a wide range of earnings and cash flow based forecasting and valuation models;
  • Appraise the strengths and weaknesses of earnings and cash flow based forecasting and valuation models.
