This module will help students to develop their knowledge, understanding and key skills associated with contemporary organisational behaviour. These skills include, for example: interpersonal communication (talking, listening, meeting skills and body language); multi-cultural/transnational team-working; creative thinking; and adaptive leadership. Organisational behaviour (OB) topics covered include: motivation, emotional intelligence, personal/employee reflection, resilience and well-being, responsible leadership and business ethics; managing change, organisational culture and teamwork. The implications of the above OB topics will be discussed in a wider leadership context. Leadership topics covered include: classical approaches; contemporary critical approaches such as followership, relational leadership, leadership without leaders, and the leadership development industry. Equality, diversity and inclusion will be emphasised throughout as central to contemporary OB, as well as developing softer skills such as dealing with people and leading in, or handling difficult work-related situations. The module will involve opportunities for both individual and group/team-work.
