This module outlines major supply chain trends driving the adoption of new technologies in supply chain. These technologies promise to promote efficiency and innovation within supply chain operations to gain and maintain competitive advantages. The module covers some of the most widely adopted advanced technologies in supply chain, for example cloud-based Information Systems; Blockchain; Robots and automation; Drones; and 3D printing. This module equips students with an understanding of the impacts and implications of how different emerging technologies can be constructed and integrated to enhance supply chain performance in terms of efficiency and cost-effectiveness. It also enhances students’ understanding of the strategies and approaches for developing supply chain innovation (including product, services, process, business model) based on those new technologies. This module enriches the practical skills and knowledge relating to supply chain technology and innovation, in turn enabling students to effectively contribute to their future supply chain-related roles.
