Description This is a specialised module that builds on the knowledge around sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship and other associate management knowledge developed in the core modules on the programme to translate them into application in the context of sustainable corporate entrepreneurship, giving students a practical perspective on creating and exploiting new sustainable opportunities within existing organisations in an ever-changing environment. While the module could help students plan and start a new business, its main goal is to enable those taking it to make good sustainable strategic decisions and develop sustainable innovation in entrepreneurial and innovative corporate environments. Some of the key areas this module will cover are: the meaning and importance of sustainable corporate entrepreneurship; fostering creativity and sustainable corporate innovation; sustainable corporate venturing teams; new sustainable technology, the digital revolution and social networking opportunities and their relevance for promoting sustainable corporate entrepreneurship; sustainable business plans and models; developing new sustainable products and services; international sustainable and responsible business growth. The module will involve opportunities for both individual and group/teamwork.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Critically evaluate sustainable entrepreneurship, creative thinking and sustainable innovation concepts and theories in a corporate context.
  • Apply tools and techniques to create and/or exploit sustainable business opportunities stemming from sustainable innovations to achieve organisational strategic aims.
  • Critically evaluate sustainable corporate venturing environments.
  • Critically analyse different approaches to developing new sustainable products and services, including digital innovation in a corporate environment reflecting on the principles of sustainable and responsible business practices.
  • Select and apply an approach to develop new sustainable products or services.
  • Appraise and evaluate strategic decisions in a changing global environment, including implications for business ethics, responsible and sustainable management.
