Description The aim of the module is to offer an opportunity for each student to develop their ability to carry out an independent research project on an accounting or finance topic of their choice. The project will allow the student to demonstrate higher level skills of analysis, self-direction, independent thought, creativity, and autonomy.

Students will be provided with the fundamental research methods skills required to succeed in the project and will then work independently, with the guidance of a supervisor, to develop and implement a research plan. The research may have an academic or professional focus, but all projects will involve the independent analysis and interpretation of data.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Formulate a clear research question along with a structured plan for addressing it
  • Critically evaluate a body of specialist literature
  • Collect systematically, analyse, and interpret their own research data
  • Discuss their research findings in the context of existing literature
  • Communicate their research clearly and concisely
  • Effectively manage their time to a series of deadlines
  • Reflect on the process and outcome of their project
