Exclusions
Description	The Economics Dissertation enables students to undertake independent research into an economic topic or question that interests them. Students will be assigned a Supervisor, who will help them determine a research question and the best methods of approach. However, training in research methods will also be provided at the beginning of the year. Depending on its exact nature, the Dissertation will involve several but not necessarily all of the following: a critical review of the relevant literature, gathering of data/evidence, a statistical or econometric component, evaluation and analysis, and recommendations.
Learning Outcomes	By the end of the module students should be able to: Demonstrate an ability to work independently on an extended project. Apply appropriate methods to the analysis of an economic issue. Draw appropriate conclusions based on assembled data and insights from the degree overall. Present findings in a formal and appropriate format.
Assessment
Assessment Methods & Exceptions	Assessment: Semester 1: Research methods assignment – 1000 words equivalent (10%). Proposal – individual 10-minute presentation (15%). Semester 2: Final dissertation – 7500 words (75%). Reassessment: By failed element.
