Description
This module will provide students with an understanding of modern advanced econometric procedures, with emphasis placed on interpreting econometric results and critically evaluating the techniques employed. It will cover a range of advanced econometric methods used in the analysis of cross-sectional, panel and time-series data sets. The module will balance an understanding of the underlying theory with how techniques are used in the applied literature. A range of applications in the areas of microeconomics, macroeconomics and finance will be considered. This module will develop skills in critically evaluating research results as well as preparing students to undertake empirical work using modern econometric methods.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Explain and appraise a range of modern econometric techniques
Demonstrate competence in hypothesis testing and interpreting econometric data
Critically appraise advanced econometrics techniques and their application
Synthesise econometric studies in the empirical literature and critically analyse the results and the approaches adopted.
Demonstrate problem solving, digital, analytical and quantitative skills
