Description The module will cover the topics of people and project management, focusing on the links between them. The module will introduce key elements of people management at the level of the organisation such as selection, recruitment, development, leadership and organisational culture taking into account how to manage equality, diversity and inclusion. Based on this, the module will then turn into examining how these translate into project management, concentrating on the activities that are not traditionally seen through the lens of project management. This will include product and service and organizational change projects which are usually smaller in scale than more traditional engineering-type projects. Given the nature of the projects being examined, the main resource will, inevitably, be people who will bring their skills and knowledge. While all projects involve a substantial people management element bringing in aspects such as matrix management, leadership, team working and development, culture and behaviours found in project domains. This will all be explored in a project context, with a critical examination of some key project management skills and disciplines such as planning, scope management, strategic perspectives and risk management, all within the project lifecycle.
