As the first step in students' entrepreneurial journey, this module will enable students to gain a critical knowledge of the evolution of the sustainable and responsible management discourses (such as the drive towards net zero, carbon negativity, equality, diversity and inclusion) and principles in various socio-economic, cultural contexts nationally and globally. This module helps students assess their own values and position with regards to that discourse in the context of their entrepreneurial ethos and aspirations and develop their competences with regards to their practice in various organisational contexts. In doing so, the module will focus on key opportunities and challenges associated with sustainability and responsible business across the social, environmental, and economic spheres and will give students the knowledge, skills and innovative tools to analyse and critically evaluate the business, regulatory requirements and moral case for managing sustainably and responsibly and how this applies to the various functions of organisations. Finally, it will critically explore the potential impact of entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs as catalysts for change in delivering sustainable products and services and in making significant social and environmental contributions within organisations and more widely to society. The module will involve opportunities for both individual and group/teamwork and enable students to develop their reflective and reflexive skills as future entrepreneurs/intrapreneurs.

Appraise the complexity and interconnectedness of global sustainability challenges inherent to the broader social, environmental, and economic landscape in which organisations operate and their implications for the management of organisations.

Connect theory and practice to identify the challenges and opportunities raised by key sustainable and responsible business issues.
