The module will provide a contemporary introduction to the twin fields of operations and supply chain management. The module will introduce students to a wide range of production concepts where they will learn the strengths associated with these concepts as well as their trade-offs. The module will investigate how international businesses manage and improve operations in order to sustain levels of competitive advantage. The module will focus on buyer-supplier relationships, sustainability, performance/productivity trade-offs, lean versus agility) and techniques facing operations and supply chain managers in both manufacturing and service organisations across the world. Overall students will develop an appreciation of the complexity of modern supply chains in the context of international business.
