Description This module will introduce students to responsibility and sustainability topics of relevance to sports governance. It aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to be an effective leader in sports governance, capable of addressing the social, ecological, and financial challenges facing the sector.

Topics include responsible business frameworks, sustainability challenges and opportunities in sport, accounting and finance for management decision-making, and accountability mechanisms for advancing responsibility and sustainability in sport.

Students will engage with relevant research in these areas and be encouraged to be reflective and innovative in applying theoretical concepts to practical problems in the governance of sport.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Analyse responsible business frameworks within the context of sports governance;
  • Evaluate sustainability challenges and opportunities in the governance of sport;
  • Interpret financial information for the purposes of decision-making;
  • Assess the potential of accountability mechanisms to advance responsibility and sustainability in sport.
