Description

The module examines a number of topical (theoretical and policy-related) issues in the area of money and banking. The topics have included: deposit insurance, EMU, long-run exchange rate behaviour, financial de-regulation in Japan and, the Asian financial crisis.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the module the student should be able to:

  • demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of recent advanced analysis applied to specific issues in money and banking;
  • synthesise the recent advanced research in the area of money and banking;
  • critically evaluate contemporary events in macroeconomics, particularly relating to the banking industry.
Assessment 03247-01 : 1,500-word Problem Set : Coursework (75%)
03247-04 : Group Presentation of 10 minutes : Group Assessment - Practical (25%)
Assessment Methods & Exceptions Assessment: One 1500-word individual problem set (75%) and a group presentation of 10 minutes (25%)

Reassessment: Resubmission of individual problem set (75%) and Individual presentation of 5 mins (25%).
