This linked module provide an in-depth treatment of contemporary issues in development economics. It is concerned with general theoretical and empirical themes and their policy implications for developing countries. Topics in Semester 1 cover classical and modern theories of economic growth and development, as well as issues related to income inequality and poverty, international trade, especially the trade strategies adopted in developing countries, and financial crises. Topics in Semester 2 cover domestic issues including human capital (health and education) and governance, as well as macroeconomic issues such as foreign aid and foreign finance.
