Description

This module introduces students to the historical and constitutional development of the European Union, the conceptual and theoretical debates surrounding the EU and integration process, the institutional framework of the EU, and key internal and external policy activities. 

Learning Outcomes
  • Identify and interpret the institutions, political and policy-making processes and major policy content of the European Union.
  • Relate the institutional, political and policy developments in the EU to the major theoretical debates in EU Studies.
  • Demonstrate an ability to critically analyse and evaluate the institutional, political and policy processes in the EU.
  • Formulate independent judgements on the processes taking place in the EU both orally and in writing.
