Exclusions
Description The jurisdiction of the English courts and the recognition and enforcement in England of foreign judgements in commercial matters; a detailed study of the choice of law rules in the fields of contract, tort and international sales. These issues are examined both under the common law rules and under the applicable European Conventions and Regulations.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Analyse critically and in depth the principal issues involved in international commercial litigation and will have developed more advanced skills in writing a research paper.
  • Demonstrate understanding of and be able to critically analyse the rules of jurisdiction applicable in the courts of England and Wales.
  • Show understanding of and be able to critically analyse the rules of applicable law which relate to contractual and non-contractual obligations, which are applicable in the courts of England and Wales.
