The Conservative led coalition government from 1940-1945
The Labour governments of Clement Attlee (1945-1951)
The ‘Modern’ Conservative era (1951-1964)
The Wilson governments (1964-1970)
The Heath era (1970-1974)
Labour under Wilson and Callaghan (1974-1979)
The Thatcher ‘(counter) revolution’ (1979-1990)
Conservative consolidation under Major (1990-1997)
New Labour under Blair and Brown (1997-2010)
The Cameron-Clegg Coalition government (2010-present day)
