Description The module will focus on the development of modern international environmental law as one of the most challenging legal disciplines. It may address topics such as: Climate Change and the Atmospheric Pollution; International Trade Law and Environmental Protection, Interstate Enforcement: State Responsibility, Treaty Compliance and Dispute Settlement for Environmental Damage; Human Rights and Environment, Ecosystems and Biodiversity and Environmental Risk Assessment (with special emphasis on nuclear safety); Energy and the Environment.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the Module, students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of international environmental law and policy
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the environmental jurisprudence of international tribunals
  • Understand the interconnections between environmental law and other areas of international commercial law;
  • Apply the above knowledge to legal problems and suggest appropriate solutions.
Assessment 37745-01 : Summative Assessment : Coursework (100%)
Assessment Methods & Exceptions Assessment:
3000 word essay (75%) and group presentation (5 minutes per person) (25%)
