Topics may be chosen from areas covered in the taught modules or, with the agreement of the Course Director, in a related area. The topic for the dissertation, which must be in an area of law broadly defined, is formulated with the agreement of a member of staff who will act as the student's supervisor and is subject to the formal approval by or on behalf of the Course Director. Students are allowed to write only one such Dissertation.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Display an understanding of a topic of special interest in greater depth than would be possible in any available taught course;
Display a level of independent analysis going beyond the merely descriptive;
Exercise relatively advanced skills in research and legal writing;
Present a piece of work which is well structured and complete with appropriate referencing and documentation.
