Description The module reviews and analyses the application and impact of digital technology in government, from an international perspective, and focuses on the role of digital governance in the relationship between citizens and the state in different country contexts.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Critically understand why and how digital technologies are applied in public services and in public policy development in a range of countries across Europe and Asia.
  • Critically understand concepts and theories regarding digital governance and apply these to the analysis of country and sectoral cases
  • Critically understand concepts of participation and citizen engagement and how these are applied in different political systems and in different aspects of state-citizen relations
  • Critically understand the interaction between digital technologies and evolving institutions of public administration in different country contexts.
