This module will provide a comprehensive introduction to how criminology has tried to understand the effects of globalisation on crime and criminal justice. Advanced theoretical understandings of global crime, and an analysis of diverse substantive forms of global crimes – e.g. drug and human trafficking, state crimes, war crimes and crimes against humanity – will be explored. The core questions that students will answer are: What is global crime? What political and historical dynamics determine the evolution, nature and definition of global crimes? And how do States respond?
