Description This module aims to provide students with a framework with which to engage with key themes in contemporary international policy goals that directly impact the management and delivery of public sector services at different governance levels. The module will provide students with a theoretical and empirical understanding of the development, change and nature of international policy goals, such as achieving sustainable development targets. The module seeks to critically explore how and whether the public sector and its partner organisations meet international obligations in their design and delivery of public services, and what is needed to further enhance capacity in brokering, realising and meeting those international obligations.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Independently assess whether public sector organisations and their partners have the capacity to broker and implement international policies, and meet relevant international obligations
  • Evaluate and identify the skills sets and resources required for realising international public service development at different governance levels
  • Critically explore policy complexity of international agendas and their impact upon public service design and implementation.
  • Demonstrate originality and self direction in using evidence and argument in addressing key issues, problems or debates on the realisation of international policies and agendas.
