Description This module will give students an insight into the theory and practice of employment law relating to individual rights. Students will be introduced to fundamental employment law topics such as: unfair dismissal; discrimination; family rights and dispute resolution, including consideration of Labour Law in the UAE. Students will be expected to critically assess the current state of employment law and the challenges faced by those who practice it.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding of key principles of Labour Law;
  • Evaluate the legal and policy issues addressed;
  • Evaluate and participate in legal arguments in context;
  • Competently express legal analysis in a succinct and relevant manner,
  • Make intelligent use of standard paper and electronic resources to locate relevant and up-to-date information on the issues covered.
