Exclusions
Description These linked modules provide instruction in written, oral and aural elements of the language, through a variety of classroom activities and home assignments. Students also perform a wide range of exercises in spoken and written Italian based on the course book. There are language laboratory classes and use is also made of web-based programmes and material. Classes are mainly conducted in Italian. In Semester 1, students will cover the first half of the course book, concentrating on practical language in everyday situations. In Semester 2, students will cover the second half of the course book, which develops competence in the use of more abstract and complex registers.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module the student should be able to:
  • Write in Italian at an intermediate level, using practical language in everyday situations;
  • Speak in Italian at an intermediate level, showing good knowledge of structures and awareness of differences between spoken and written language;
  • Understand and comment on Italian spoken at near natural speed;
  • Demonstrate a familiarity with the range of resources available to support their active language learning
  • Have achieved level B1/B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
