Students will attend weekly classes in the language laboratories to develop their interpreting skills (listening, reproduction of aural stimuli between an English and French speaker). The language of delivery will be a combination of English and French. They will also attend fortnightly back-up classes during which they will develop their background knowledge of the topics studied for interpreting.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module the student should be able to:
Interpret aural stimuli on a number of topics;
Transfer meaning from English into French and vice-versa building on and developing the key language skills fostered in the 'Core Language' modules in Years 1 and 2.
Assessments: One 15-minute interpreting task taking place in the language laboratory (100%) Reassessment: No resits are permitted in final year. If students miss the assessed task owing to extenuating circumstances, the task would be rescheduled at a later date.
