Exclusions
Description This module will build on the knowledge acquired during residence abroad. It will develop advanced listening skills in Chinese, will enhance students¿ ability to express themselves in Chinese and will involve them in researching topics of their choice. A major aspect of the module will be autonomous work on the production of an extended oral presentation relevant to their discipline or any aspect of Chinese society or culture, which will be linked to an ensuing debate. The module will also consolidate grammatical knowledge and explore advanced elements of Chinese grammar.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module the student should be able to:
  • understand complex speech formatting and language
  • undertake extensive individual research of material, through library research including Internet and /or interview
  • use technical vocabulary that relates to their presentation topic and/or degree subject
  • access the language autonomously
  • present information clearly to an audience
  • explain and support their own opinion
  • apply Chinese grammar with confidence and accuracy
