Restrictions MA in Translation Studies - core module in Autumn Term for both European Studies and Language Technologies pathways ¿ no new programme but amendment of programme required.
Exclusions
Description This module is designed to provide students with hands-on experience of a range of technologies applied to the study and practice of translation. Students will learn how to use the tools most commonly required by employers, such as translation memory and terminology management tools, and critically assess the technological requirements for different translation projects. They will also gain a sophisticated understanding of how translation tools work and how they have impacted translation, both as a discipline and as a practice.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module the student should be able to:
  • assess technological requirements for different translation projects
  • choose the most appropriate electronic resources and tools for each project
  • competently use state-of-the-art translation tools
  • use corpus-analysis tools and keystroke logging software to investigate the process/product of translation.
