Description The module will develop training in development and production processes and methods in the presentation of audio-visual content. Students will work with practitioners from the University and from partner companies in television and film production in order to acquire competence in basic production skills (planning, budgeting, health and safety, etc). Students will acquire knowledge of the processes involved in developing and commissioning programming for the media industries, including film, TV and digital content.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate advanced competence in academic research for presentation of issues and themes through audio-visual media
  • Demonstrate practical and theoretical familiarity with technical production processes, methods and issues
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the media industry, particularly the economic, creative and editorial factors involved in conceiving, developing and producing a programme/short film
  • Demonstrate sophisticated ability to condense and summarise ideas and research into a short and succinct proposal
